EVP Experiment Session # 1 Complete

Published by kspace at 6:44 pm under General Edit This

evp.jpgInstead of getting on my Sunday Soapbox today, I wanted to post the first segment of audio from my EVP experiment.  As you can probably guess, my first skim through the file yielded a big fat zero.  However, I was listening to it with 3 kids in the background and a very busy household…so I need to sit and listen quietly later.  If any of you want to listen, the file can be found here:

It is a big file.  I amplified and normalized the audio with a free program called Audacity, that you can get here.

Some things to note on the file:

  • I live near a railroad track and train station.  About every 30 minutes I hear rumbling which appears to be the local trains.
  • For control purposes, I ran this session without asking any questions.  This is to establish the baseline for normal sounds in this room.
  • I only uploaded about an hour of audio; I don’t expect many folks want to sit around and listen for 7-8 hours, but if anyone *wants* to hear the larger file, I can gladly file-share through other means.

There may be opportunities for some video experimenting a bit later.  If nothing else, it was fun to play around with the audio software.  My husband and I had fun mocking the evidence review sessions we have seen TAPS do millions of times :P

Okay, I listened to about 38 minutes! I think I heard two trains, and perhaps a clap at around 30m14s? :) Heehee, I felt I needed to have hypnotoad onscreen to accompany the audio :)

I heard that clap sound too…just before the second train, yes?
What I think that is….might have been the baseboard heater turning on. Sometimes when it turns on, the metal encasement expands too quickly from the heat and creaks or pops like that. Although, my hubby says it was warm that night and heat would not have been on. He’s such a drama queen :-P

Thanks for having a go at it!
